Growing season is in full swing, and this year we decided to give gardening a try. We planted tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, spinach, and lettuce. Novices without a lot of yard space, we did two small raised beds for the greens, and containers for the rest. Our cucumbers still have a way to go, but thankfully one of our neighbors has been sharing his extras with us. This evening we were excited to finally be able to harvest some tomatoes. We will be making salads with our bounty, and perhaps even a home-made margarita pizza–yum! It’s very satisfying eating food you’ve grown, and it tastes significantly better than what is available at the local grocery.
